Artist Statement
“Art is the extended arm of your imagination; the feast of inspiration for your muse. Art isn't just creativity, it’s a way of life.”
Sarah Curran
My artistic journey is one that explores the many facets of human experience, where each piece is a reflection of a story, an emotion, or a moment captured in time. I am inspired by and I enjoy focusing on the quiet beauty of everyday objects. Through meticulous attention to detail and composition, I enjoy transforming the mundane into the extraordinary, creating pieces that are meditative studies of light, color, and atmosphere, evoking a sense of peace and tranquility while encouraging viewers to find wonder in the simplicity of life. Through a lifelong exploration of portraits, concept art, figures, landscapes, and still lifes, my work has become a tapestry of complex imagery and objects woven together as my artistic voice.
I enjoy delving into the essence of identity and character and attempting to encapsulate the unique spirits of people, revealing stories etched into their expressions and postures. By capturing the dynamism and grace of the human body, I celebrate its inherent beauty. As I strive to portray both the strength and vulnerability inherent in the human condition, my most recent series, “Double Consciousness”, is infused with symbolic elements and imaginative explanatory scenarios as a means of personal self expression and communication through art. These works challenge the viewer to look beyond the surface, engaging with themes of transformation, resilience, and the interplay between the natural and the spiritual.
Across all my work, I am driven by a desire to connect with the viewer on an emotional level, to provoke thought, and to inspire a deeper appreciation of the world around us. My art is an invitation to pause, reflect, and engage with the myriad stories that shape our lives.
“The man who arrives at the doors of artistic creation with none of the madness of the Muses would be convinced that technical ability alone was enough to make an artist... what that man creates by means of reason will pale before the art of inspired beings.”

Artist Biography
As a young girl growing up in High Point, North Carolina, Sabrina Nikia Tillman believed that she could achieve anything. She studied music at an early age and personally acknowledged that she loved to draw and could easily lose herself in her artwork. As an academic, early career aspirations of being an Orthodontist led to her undergraduate studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 1994. In the midst of heavy Chemistry and Biology coursework, she took an elective art class during her sophomore year, which resulted in her changing her major. She would proceed to graduate from UNC with a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree with a Printmaking Concentration in 1998. Additional graduate studies included Interior Architecture and Advertising and Computer Graphics. Sabrina spent over 20 years working professionally in computer graphics, packaging design, and print production management.
Forever unsatisfied with the corporate work experience and dealing with feelings of an unfulfilled purpose, when the opportunity presented itself for her to pursue a career in art, she took it. She established an art business, Brtyche, along with an Etsy online store in 2012 and began displaying her original artwork and reproduction prints at art shows, festivals, and events. Her first solo art exhibit took place during the month of July in 2013 at Yalik’s Modern Art in High Point, NC. Sabrina created a website for her art business, brtyche.com, in 2016 and began showcasing her original artwork and limited and open edition prints. She opened her own art boutique, The House of Brtyche, in downtown High Point in 2018 and relocated to 112 S. Main St. in 2020 as Sabrina’s. Sabrina’s gallery moved to 114 S. Main St and she also managed the Gallery on Main, both in the same location. She completed her Masters Degree for Fine Art Painting from the Academy of Art University in August 2020. In 2023, she partnered with the High Point Arts Council to create the Artful Business Cohort, a program focused on art fundamentals and business classes for local artists. She currently creates out of her private art studio in High Point and her artwork is on display in multiple galleries and collections throughout North Carolina.
