Xavier King
Quick Biography
Born in New York City and living there in the late 90’s and early 2000's and moving to North Carolina when I was 6, numerous cultures and varying world views have always been a part of my life. Studying bio-med in early college and then switching to graphic design to then again switching to fine arts has given me a deep appreciation of art and art history which leads me to where I am now, pulling inspiration from just about anything but mostly small objects and scenery drawing and sketching just about anything I put my eyes on.
Artist Statement
Drawing and painting have become a recent staple in my life, my work mostly dabbles in surrealism taking direct inspiration from Rene Magritte, Max Ernst and, Zdzislaw Beksinski. Mainly drawing but using angles, scenery, and often sometimes horrifying subject matter to ease the viewer into a dream world of either calm and bliss or terror but mostly I’d say my work makes the viewer think, why is “such and such” placed like “this and that”. Drawing is how I mainly convey these ideals, having a strong love of working with a pencil and shaving graphite away creating deep depth and fantasy
