Biography
It has been only recently that I began exploring my abilities with colored pencils (2020), pastels (2021), and oil painting (2022). I have always loved animals (my degrees are in Animal Science and Veterinary Technology), so it was only natural that they would be my inspiration. Now that my husband and I are official “empty nesters”, animal/pet portraits are the start of a new venture.
This is an evening-and-weekends endeavor for me. I am a member of the Atrium Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center community and work, full time, as a Cancer Research Lab Manager in the Radiation Oncology Department. While I always loved to draw as a child, it was not until moving to Winston Salem, NC in 2018 that I actually began dabbling in a few local evening & weekend art classes here and there. But, as community classes were shut down due to COVID in 2020, and I could no longer spend evenings out, I started practicing at home in earnest. In January 2021, I put up my first display of 12 pet portraits in one of the hospital galleries and have been booking commissions ever since.
