Biography

I am a studio artist specializing in custom story-sticks and figurative sculpture.

Artist Statement

The human figure tends to be the primary departure point for my work. I begin with gestural drawings, in a sketch book, on sticky notes, or even napkins. My figures initially rise from an immediate and intuitive place to these quick line drawings. As drawings evolve into sculpture I refine them and, in the case of wood carvings, create an oil clay model. Once a piece gets past the beginning stages the work dialogue shifts to the final sculpted material and a new round of intuitive actions unfold to get to the finished work.
