Biography
Originally from Whippany, NJ, Diane Plaisted moved south to attend Guildford College in Greensboro, NC. She always felt a deep calling towards art taking every pottery and painting class she could. She minored in Art and majored in Math which started a career in programming initially with Booke & Company and then with RJ Reynolds. With 3 wonderful children, husband, and a full time job, she painted large watercolors but only when time allowed. She studied watercolor with Ida Shen and Gerald Brommer. In 2013 she switched to oils and painted under Patty Bailey Sheets for several years. Diane has since painted with Dreama Tolle Perry in France where she fell in love with color as well as the area to return a second time. The charm of the area has appeared in many of her paintings since. She has studied portraits with Susan Lyons and Scott Burdick, and studied still life painting with Qiang Huang. She loves a challenge and has twice done the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge.
“Painting takes me to a surreal place of joy and happiness. Occasionally you find that zone where time passes unnoticed and you are painting without thinking about it. I love creating, whether it is painting oils, watercolor, pastel, pottery, jewelry making. It’s a love of exploring and learning where there are no bounds.”
