Biography

In March 2020, the world came to a standstill overnight it seemed. I'd taken art in high school but had put it down since. It wasn't until during the pandemic that I picked up a piece of paper, a pen, and began to doodle. I was working as a RN at a corporate location for 8+ hours a day. There was so much downtime that I thought to myself "Hm. let me see." After 2 years (May 2022), that contract ended and I went into a different field of nursing. Once again, I'd put the pen and paper down and just focused on work. But by the time that 2 year contract had ended, I'd ended up with a portfolio full of art (all black/white and grayscale). I put it away and didn't think much of it.

It was collecting dust and one day I picked it up, took it with me to my new job, one of my patients looked at it, and was amazed. One patient after another saw it and asked what I intended to do with it. I didn't have an answer for them because I didn't know. I then realized that I had as much downtime within this job that I'd had before and was doing nothing with it. That's when I picked up the pen again and began to draw. Now in July of 2024, my portfolio has continued to grow. And all of a sudden, I met another local artist and she pointed me in this direction. So I would love the opportunity to present my artwork to AFAS. You will find just a few attached below. You will also find an unfinished piece with color. This will be apart of my post pandemic collection. I hadn't felt very comfortable working with color before but I am embracing it slowly but surely.
