Biography
Acrylic | Watercolor | Prints
Theresa Marie Auricchio holds a BFA in Painting from Syracuse University. She grew up in an artistic household, learning classical techniques from an early age.
The figure and portraiture plays a key role in most of her work. She studied the figure itself for many years, across many mediums, and the goal was the figure itself. The beauty of the body in every shape - just the figure itself or portraiture. More recent pieces embed the figure within a space/landscape to convey a narrative, impose a question, or, tell a story. Figures in movement, in work, doing mundane activities or finding joy, happiness, and sometimes mirth in everyday activities. At times, the figure is vague or is a suggestion within the landscape - this represents seeking, haunting, working the way out of the frame. She attempts to convey societal positions of those from all walks of life while revealing the true personality and inner character of her subjects. As a figurative painter she blends elements of Realism and Impressionism. Color and perspective are also important elements in her work.
She has worked professionally as an art director, illustrator, and painter with corporate and private clients in the US and Europe.
